Sara Crowder, MD

Sara Crowder, MD is board-certified in Gynecologic Oncology and Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has been practicing Gynecologic Oncology since 2002 in Columbia, MO.

Dr. Crowder is passionate about offering streamlined, expert surgical care using minimally invasive techniques whenever possible. She is a leader in robotic surgery and actively trains other surgeons as a proctor. She is grateful for the chance to help people improve their lives with surgery and return to normal as quickly as possible.

Dr. Crowder grew up in Columbia and attended the University of Missouri for undergraduate studies in biology and chemistry. She worked in multiple stores in downtown Columbia and at the university to help offset the expense of college. She then attended the University of Missouri School of Medicine, where she graduated cum laude, was the co-editor of the yearbook, and travelled to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota to expand her medical knowledge.

Dr. Crowder completed her residency and fellowship training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and Houston, Texas. In residency, she was chosen as Chief Resident and earned multiple teaching awards. During fellowship, she completed a Masters of Medical Science with a focus in immunology.

After fellowship, Dr. Crowder initially practiced at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center at the University of Missouri, and served as division director. Her team was frequently awarded the most active in recruitment for clinical trials at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center. She earned many teaching awards, including the prestigious Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine award, bestowed upon one attending physician by the medical students each year. That same year, she was chosen as one of only three attending physicians to participate in the cloaking during the cap and gown ceremony.

After transitioning into private practice, Dr. Crowder has focused on educating her team and her patients, excellence in robotic surgery, and streamlining the patient experience. She sees this as a continuous goal for the life of her career.

Dr. Crowder is married and met her husband at Hickman High School. They have two children and multiple pets. Her personal interests include reading, movies, travel, and the pursuit of better health.
